The document describes installing a public key. The DigiStamp public keys are used to validate the authenticity of a time stamp. The public keys are located at: http://www.digistamp.com/login.htm#pubKeys

Installing DigiStamp public keys

Root key

The DigiStamp public keys are issued in a hierarchy. At the bottom of the hierarchy are the public keys from our various time stamp servers. At the top of the hierarchy is a root key that used to authenticate each time stamp key. The installation starts by installing this root key.
Download the "Intermediate root key" from www.digistamp.com/login.htm#pubkeys The direct links to files are given below.
If you are using the test time stamp servers you will need this root key serial number 38:
http://www.digistamp.com/pubkeys/dgsca38t.cer
If you are using the production time stamp servers you will need this root key serial number 44:
http://www.digistamp.com/pubkeys/dgsca44.cer
Double click on the downloaded file, for example dgsca16t.cer. Windows should display:

Trouble shooting: If windows is not configured to open this file type then you have two options described is document sections below. Choose one of these approaches that then return back to this point in the install instructions:
Automatically open certificate import
Import Manually
Select "Install Certificate" to display:

Select "Next" to display:

Select "Next" to display:

Select "Finish" to display:

Select "Yes" to install the DigiStamp Intermediate Root Certificate.

Time Stamp Public keys

The specific public key that you will need depends of when the particular time stamp server was used to create your time stamp. See: http://www.digistamp.com/login.htm#pubKeys for the complete list.
For example, when evaluation the toolkit and using our test server you will need the latest public key from time stamp server TSATEST1
Download your selected time stamp public key. Double click on the downloaded file, for example named DGS47T.cer

 

Trouble shooting: If windows is not configured to open this file type then you have two options described is document sections below. Choose one of these approaches that then return back to this point in the install instructions:
Automatically open certificate import
Import Manually
Select "Install Certificate" to display.

Select "next" to display the following window. Select "place all certificates into the following store" and then click the "Browse" button. Select the "Personal" certificate store.

Select "Finish" to display the install confirmation dialog.

Browsing the installed certificates

Iternet Explorer has integrated the certificate view capability. See the Import Manually section on how to access the certificates. Select the tab "Intermediate Certificate Authority" so see the list of key, for example:

Select "view" to see details about the certificate. In the view section you can check the key serial number that is used on our WEB site to identify specific certificates.

Trouble shooting: There is an issue with the procedure above for viewing certificates in your "Personal" certificate store. The certificates will be imported but they are not displayed in this GUI. We are working to resolve this issue. If only seems to be a problem on NT and if the user installed the certificates when logged on as "Administrator".

Automatically open certificate import

Your Windows environment can be configured to recognize the file type of a public key certificate. Generally, this configuration described below is already defined on your computer. You can choose this method of you can use the import manually method.
From the explorer select View and then Option. Select the file type tab. Click to Edit. If you don’t have this file type defined click the New Type.

Import Manually

Using Internet Explorer (IE) the certificates can be imported directly. From IE choose "Tools" and "Internet Options" and then select the "Content" tab to display:

Select "Certificates" to display:

Select the import tab. The first step of the wizard is to enter the file name of the certificate you are importing. Once this is completed, this instructions above about "Installing DigiStamp Public Keys" describe the next steps.
